    NICOLAS LUTZ

    MY OWN JUPITER
    DJ

    nicolas-lutz

From Jupiter to Berlin and countless capitals in between, Nicolas Lutz has always operated best on the very outskirts of dance floor culture. A master of mystery and relentless seeker, his knack for unearthing precious gemstones – for immediate exploitation and then, slowly but surely, the greater good of the community – is uncanny, and its this insistence on clearing a path between the unknown and the utterly unexpected that elevate his sets into explorations of faraway lunar landscapes and charters through the depths of murky seas. Never one to compromise or contradict a steadfast musical philosophy, one only needs to see the owner of My Own Jupiter in action to understand the existence of his cult following.

Nicolas Lutz was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and has lived in many metropolis’ such as Sao Paulo, Berlin, Paris and spent a few summers in Ibiza. This diverse cultural exposure is reflected in his DJ sets and in him as a person, a hybrid identity, a mixture of it all. He has an extremely creative mind and a strong artistical ethos in how he stands by his music, his vision.
Nicolas has been playing and collecting records since the mid 90’s and accomplished during this time an impeccable technique; playing only vinyl and incorporating the cultural tradition it brings with it. Nicolas’ obsession with records and music not only makes him be so diverse across music genres but it turns him into a unique DJ, a ‘DJ’s DJ’.
In 2011 a family project was born – My Own Jupiter. Its mission: to introduce something disruptive and iridescent in the greyscale landscape of contemporary dance music. An interdisciplinary art project that unites sound and image. A multimedia invitation onto the planet Edurne and Nicolas Lutz have created for themselves. It is the ticket onto the ship of imagination, the oxygen tank to better help us breathe in the glimmering fumes of a planet that we may not belong to—but are certainly welcome to explore.
