Born in England and raised in Austria by her Austrian mother and father from Barbados, Cassy was exposed to many cultures growing up and she was surrounded by music from birth. At the age of five she went to music school and, later, she met jazz musicians including Sun Ra, Archie Shepp and Lester Bowie, when they stayed at her parent’s countryside inn on their way to play an Austrian jazz festival. “They left a trace behind of somewhere I knew I belonged, without knowing how to get there,” she says. Artists like Basia, Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Spandau Ballet, Madness, Talking Heads, The Cure, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Gilles Peterson and the influential label Talkin Loud are among the many influences during the early stages of her life, laying the unbreakable foundation that remains today.

Since the early 2000s Cassy has earned a reputation for excellence across the board, moving home on a regular basis in order to evolve and immerse herself in new scenes including vibrant cities like Geneva and Berlin in 2003, to Paris and Amsterdam in 2010. In Berlin she was deeply involved in the city’s club culture; working at iconic record shop Hard Wax, socializing and working with the some of the scene’s most innovative artists – producing, collaborating, singing and enjoying the creative freedom that a liberated city like Berlin can provide. Cassy was one of the early residents at Panorama Bar, recording the club’s first ever mix CD, while also releasing music with a range of influential labels and her own self-titled imprint.

Ibiza – another strong artistic influence on Cassy. A place where Cassy could further hone her skills as a dj not only by playing residencies for Cocoon at Amnesia and Circoloco at DC10, but also by hosting her own night in the Pachacha room of Pacha. She keeps returning to the island for many different types of shows, underground or more established not attaching herself to a special event nor sound.

At the beginning of the pandemic Cassy decided to move back to Austria the country of her childhood together with her mother and son. This time away from the scene and the music just cemented her passion and love for it. Even though House music of the likes of Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Marc Kinchen are her first love, Techno will always be what she enjoys playing most, specializing in the deeper and more minimal side of it, with strong influences of Detroit Techno and British Minimal Techno after the likes of Baby Ford and Mark Broom with a twist of Chicago House.

Kwench Records, the label she started in London in 2017 will continue on its unique path between House and deeper more minimal Techno. Cassy always loved the world between House and Techno. The tracks that are harder to stick into a genre and that float in between those two worlds. One would like to call it Tech-House but it is not. She will continue to release her own music and the music of the likes of Fred P, Amir Alexander and Art Alfie, just to name a few.

Cassy decided to release her second album by the name of CBM as two consecutive EPs on the label Housewax (Rawax) herewith completing a House music homage project. Her way of expressing the love and gratitude she has for all its artists and representatives.
Now back living in Austria, she is working towards a more grounded state of being; embracing her femininity, invoking strength, wisdom and tenacity. These tenets of womanhood are at the forefront of her inspiration, Cassy’s approach to music has matured; benefitting from a refreshed outlook. Now also reunited with her record collection Cassy is focusing on playing vinyl and more her style of deep and minimal techno again.

Over two decades of playing records has bestowed Cassy with a ‘sixth sense’, a refined level of intuition achieved by dedicating much of her life to DJing. Representing herself in a true and sincere way and cultivating a mutual connection with the dancers in front of her, whether it’s 150 people or 15,000, is what drives her forward.
